As a parent I have learned many things. No matter how prepared one thinks they might be for the wonderful journey that is parenthood there is always something to learn.
When my son was born and I was finally able to get him from the nurses and hold him in my arms I immediately learned that I would do absolutely anything for him. If push came to shove I instantly knew that I would lay down my life if it meant sparing his.
I now also have a daughter and those feelings that came rushing all at once are only stronger. While I was poking around some news articles today I came across some amazing footage. An Australian father (not that I think the location really matters) took the full impact of a car that was travelling at over 45 MPH to make sure his son would survive.
